I started playing table tennis with my Dad on an old table top that we put onto the dinner table, more or less at the same time I discovered my teacher at Junior School played table tennis for Holmewood TTC and we started a lifelong friendship as team mate, mentor and friends. I initially started up playing table tennis in the Worksop and Chesterfield Leagues winning both Division 1’s while at Secondary School before moving to Sheffield for the harder matches when I got a little older.

During the mid 1990’s I was invited down to Burton to play in the Uxbridge Masters event and then to play British League. During this time Terry Gadsby suffered a severe heart attack, and this was the time I became more involved in the club, to helping out while he recovered; only coaching on Saturdays, based around my University timetable back then.

From this point I never looked back and started getting more and more involved with running the club. Currently I work for English Table Tennis which gives me a depth of constantly updating knowledge which helps me to take decisions about leading the club. My work has taken me all around the world to major table tennis events including World, European and Commonwealth Games.
